Structure design and experimental study on ultrasonic vibration–assisted induction brazing cubic boron nitride abrasive tools

Brazed superabrasive tool has been widely used in machining of difficult-to-cut materials to improve the efficiency and quality. However, severe wear associated short service life have be faced for conventional induction brazed (CIB) abrasive tools during processes, owing its weak bonding strength between grains metal-bonded phases. In this case, method ultrasonic vibration–assisted brazing (UVAIB) was proposed fabricate tools, through introducing vibration into process strength. Here, a novel UVAIB device developed, geometric designation parameters were optimized using finite element simulating method. addition, performance tested terms impedance amplitude. Subsequently, comparative experiment trials performed with under CIB Results show that energy loss can reduced, then, amplification value uniformity reach 8 92%, respectively. large number pores macro-cracks inside tool’s metallic matrix observed, whereas is reduced by 75%, only fewer smaller micro-cracks are found UVAIB. Furthermore, compared grains’ intergranular fracture CIB, exhibits transgranular mode due higher after adopting vibrating
